Wheaton Regional Park

This amazing playground, located in Wheaton, MD, is well worth a trip to see.  The adventure playground has been completely renovated, and to my surprise it has not been filled with generic equipment.  They have used their imagination and created a delightful and thrilling industrial-type playground for children.

They have three slides, each of different heights:

A HUGE climbing mountain:

A challenging jungle gym made of ropes.  This is particularly neat because it goes up really high and ropes are mainly a thing of the past.

A unique and fabulous toddler area with concrete sculptures of different animals, a sandbox, and toddle size slides and climbing structures:

A large area with swings, including swings for disabled children:

And various unique climbing structures that are challenging and appropriate for 5-12 year olds.

And if that wasn't enough, there is also a carousel and a train to ride!

This playground is newer, and they did a fabulous job with the renovation, keeping old attractions like the carousel and train, and making the new playground fun and exciting for children, instead of generic.  It also boasts wide open fields and picnic areas, along with walking paths.  We would go back again!
